It’s important to think about the positive. We all miss our beautiful beaches and our 30A lifestyle so let’s take a trip down memory lane. What do you miss most about 30A? • Fun Things to Do While You’re Stuck at Home
    on April 1, 2020 at 12:00 am

Whether you’re stuck at home this week or not, you can save this article for a rainy day. People are getting stir crazy and might be looking for new ideas to try at home. We’re thankful for the nice weather lately but there’s nowhere to go so here are some things you and your crew can try in the meantime. Plan your next vacation – Sure, we don’t know what the future holds so we can’t lock in dates right away but you can look into where you’re going and what there is to do. If you’re dying for a beach vacation, you can plan out an itinerary for a Destin, Florida trip. Look up restaurants, read reviews, see when the Happy Hours are. Find out about bike rentals and bike paths to check out.  Start cooking - So many people have recipes saved up that they intend to try one day. Use this time to start trying those or work on making your own. Pinterest has endless ideas for every category of cooking and baking. Or watch your favorite cooking channel and pick up some great tips. Several grocery stores are still offering grocery delivery so take advantage of the opportunity and you won’t have to go out.  Get organized - Now is the time to get rid of clutter. You might be thinking how you can clean when the whole family is home around the clock. We’re talking about long-term ideas, not the living room. Go through your spice cabinet. Purge those closets and throw out clothes that don’t fit or never get worn. When the kids aren’t looking, box up old books or toys they no longer use. Think of ways to benefit your stay-home crew like organizing snacks in the pantry so everyone can get their own. Or a meal plan so dinners are known ahead of time.  Go back in time – We mean use “snail mail”. When was the last time you sent a real letter? Some of you probably not in years. But how much do you love getting a personal card or letter in the mail? Make a list of friends and family you miss and want to make smile. Order some envelopes and blank cards or get out a notebook and start writing.  Make an epic fort – Forts have come a long way since we were little. We used to just tie a few sheets together and put them across some furniture and call it a day. That’s pretty fun but there are several ways you can take your blanket fort skills up a notch with some other household items.  We’re all affected somehow by the weird times we’re in, but you can still find ways to stay positive during your day. Until you’re back enjoying the views at your 30A vacation rental, try some of our staying-home suggestions and spread some positivity. Hopefully, the beaches will be back open soon and we can get back to the normal life. Stay safe everyone!

  • Things to do in Destin Before 2020
    on November 6, 2019 at 12:00 am

Somehow the year is quickly coming to an end. Instead of getting everything together when the year starts, we like to wrap up the year on a great note. Need some suggestions? Here are 5 things we recommend doing before 2020. Whether you live on the beach or not, most of us have had some ups and downs this year. Take the last few weeks of the decade to treat yourself. We can get preoccupied with work, taking care of everyone else, and our daily routines that we forget to do something for ourselves. The Destin, Florida area has a wide selection of award-winning restaurants to choose from. Treat yourself to an amazing dinner at Tommy Bahama’s or Emeril’s. Or enjoy rooftop dining at Shunk Gulley. Have the bourbon brownie at Cantina Laredo’s or fresh margaritas.  Rent a beach house and relax for a few days to get your mind off the daily grind. Take a week or weekend off to just enjoy the coast and reset. When you have a break, you’re able to be energized and start over with a clean slate. Stay in a condo with great amenities or a 30A vacation rental with beach access.  No time for a week off? Leave your schedule open and just enjoy a day at the beach. Pack a lunch and soak up the sun. Bring a beach game to play with friends or family. Get a good book you’ve been eager to read. Enjoy some time to unplug and live in the moment. Forget about responsibilities for the day and just wing it.  Go exploring. Even for people that live here on the coast, we rarely think to go exploring. You get in a routine of going to the same places and forget there’s so much more to check out. Seaside is a great place to get out and walk around. They have farmers markets, bookstores, boutiques, and art galleries. They also have Airstream Row to get great local food and treats. Rent some bikes and look around. Alys Beach is also a beautiful area to bike through with stunning scenery and architecture. Grayton Beach State Park is nice for a hike or bike ride on the trails.  Make a vision board for 2020. Sound a little crazy? Vision boards have proven to actually work. When you create a space that displays what you want, that visualization motivates you to achieve it. You don’t have to just put things you want to have, but also how you want to feel. Think about where you want to be next year, mentally and physically. Any goals you want to work towards, places you want to travel to, whatever inspires you – add something to your board that can help you focus on those.  Every year, we say we want to have a good start. Make your plans now and get ahead. 2020 can be your best year yet! is owned and operated by GulfLink, LLC, and is dedicated to providing comprehensive and up-to-date information on the Florida Gulf Coast.
